Join the Shell Disloyalty Club

Greenpeace UK are organising public protests at Shell fuel stations all around the country and, yesterday, they even succeeded in getting a polar bear arrested in Edinburgh:

Polar bear arrested in Edinburgh

Shell is about to start drilling for oil in the Arctic. They plan to take advantage of the melting ice, and their ‘drilling window’ has just opened. To add your voice to the protests, please tell Shell what you think of their drilling plans… Greenpeace have suggested that people join the Shell Disloyalty Club, but I will leave them to explain this brilliant idea

Tell Shell what you think

Now you could write them a letter or send them an email but we prefer to use creative tools to challenge the big corporations who are threatening the future of our planet. So when someone spotted a Shell loyalty club form, with a handy freepost address, well it was hard to resist.* You can download and print off your Shell Disloyalty club form hereit works better in colour and you may need to do some cutting and glueing it together — Please add your message and details and send it to Shell — If you already have a Loyalty Club card – or if you would like to pick one up at your local Shell petrol station – then you way wish to consider sending it back to Shell in pieces? ————— * I think Royal Mail may resist but – if they don’t – doing this will cost Shell lots of money.

Greenpeace sent me an e-mail with a request to call Customer Service here in Canada. So I did! And I sent an e-mail to the Alaska office of Shell. I doubt they’ll reply : )

Good for you, JP. The key to getting a response is to ask for one. I’m glad to hear this is a global campaign not just a UK one. I got an email from Greenpeace UK and have telephoned Shell and emailed them too. I think you will like my upcoming post (to be published in 15 minutes or so) but I am off to bed…
